The 2001-W Capitol Visitor Center Gold Commemorative was issued to commemorate the First Convening of Congress in Washington. The coin displays a Corinthian colum and an image of the original Capitol Building. The coins bear the "W" mint mark and were minted at the West Point mint. The coins were issued in both uncirculated and proof versions. The mintage for uncirculated coins was 6,761 and the mintage for proof coins was 27,652.
